calibre changes computer display settings

I am on Windows 7 and have used Calibre successfully for quite a while. Suddenly (perhaps after some windows updates) when I ask it to change book formats it changes the entire display settings on my computer to a much larger size and unusable. Does anyone know why this is happening?
